Excelsior Writers | excelsiorwriters.com

Steven is an 11-year old boy of Asian-American descent. He is an only child. Steven was referred to you by his school counselor. Despite the modifications and accommodations provided by his school, Steven continually struggles academically and socially. Steven’s parents report that his inattention and academic frustration lead to classroom failure, poor self-image and behavioral difficulties which mom tells you began in the 3rd grade. Steven has had a hard time in reading and understanding social situations that resulted in him being bullied and feeling tremendous anxiety in social settings. He struggles with feelings of social isolation and being looked at as “odd.” Dad tells you that Steven has daily visits to the nurse with complaints of stomach aches and headaches. Academically, Steven is a fluent reader who struggles with comprehension and inferencing and performs as developmentally immature for his age. Steven and his family struggle with his academic ability and his poor classroom performance leading to a decline of emotions and behaviors that interfered with everyday functioning in school, at home and with his peer groups. Dad tells you that he is disappointed that his son cannot manage his emotions and succeed academically. Mom, on the verge of tears, asks you to please help her son.

1. What are some initial diagnostic thoughts for Steven? Discuss how you would formulate a differential diagnosis assessment of Steven. Given the information you have in the vignette, what further information might you need and why? Consider age, gender, culture, socioeconomic status, genetics and familial influences.

2. Given the vignette information and your diagnostic thoughts in question 1, create an intervention plan for Steven. What treatment considerations would you incorporate in your treatment plan? Other questions to consider in your response are: Would you work with Steven individually? How would you include the parents? What are the pros and cons of family therapy in this case? With whom and how would you collaborate with the school for continuity of care? What suggestions could you offer with regard to behavior management at home and at school?

Issues, Reasons, & Conclusions Discussion

View the following Taco Bell Commercial

Copyright: YouTube Video

Issue is clearly stated: Why doesn’t Taco Bell have Fries?

  • But could you find a clear conclusion or clear reasons?

For this discussion you will do the following:

  • View a commercial of your choice
  • state which commercial was viewed and upload commercial
  • Identify if you were able to find a clear issue, conclusion, and reasons.
  • If you were not able to find reasons formulate possible “good reasons” to buy the product.

This task sensitizes us to what a reason is, because so many commercials provide no explicit reasons.

How a teacher should conduct an assessment effectively. – Excelsior Writers | excelsiorwriters.com
Excelsior Writers | excelsiorwriters.com

Assessment Matters

As a teacher, you need to have solid knowledge of formative and summative assessment and how each can help you ensure students are mastering key contents and skill. You also need to be able to take the information gleaned from assessments and make decisions that support the learning of all your students. This week, you will build on your previous assignment from last week and integrate the knowledge from your research and the readings.

Watch the following videos:

  1. Rick Wormeli: Formative and Summative Assessment

  2. TEDxSoCal – Dr. Brian Stecher – Cultivating Thriving Schools

Both videos examine the role of accountability and how they can and do impact our work in schools. Brian Stecher specifically discusses three indicators that drive everything that happens in schools, while Rick Wormeli outlines how different types of knowledge are assessed.

In this assignment, please address the following topics and questions:

  1. Analyze the roles of assessment and evaluation in school improvement and in measuring educational quality.
  2. Examine and explain your perspectives on the roles and trends related to assessment in education.
  3. Evaluate the value of both types of assessment and, specifically, the role you see assessment playing in your classroom.
  4. Evaluate the roles of both formative and summative assessment in the classroom. How does each form of assessment support learning? In what ways can the teacher use the data from assessments to influence learning in the classroom?
  5. Review your work from your Week Four Assignment and provide specific details of what you see as the next step in developing an assessment for the Common Core State Standard you identified in the activity you presented.

ENG103 Enochs High School Brutus Appeal Essay – Excelsior Writers | excelsiorwriters.com
Excelsior Writers | excelsiorwriters.com

How you organize the rest of your essay is up to you. You can, if you like, break down Brutus’speech into sections, and analyze it section by section, dedicating a body paragraph to the persuasive use of the figures in each section. OR you can dedicate each body paragraph to a specific trope within Brutus’ rhetorical arsenal. Within each paragraph, you’d jump around in Brutus’s speech, discussing all the times Brutus uses “antithesis” (for example) in his speech. That discussion would fill out your body paragraph dedicated to the trope of antithesis.

However you choose to organize the body of your essay, you need to keep in mind that I’m most interested in reading your take on how each instance of each figure is working to convince Brutus’ audience to adopt his point of view. What we’re analyzing here is the way in which tropes (ie, figures of speech) are being used to persuade an audience. It’s not enough to point out a metaphor here, a chiasmus there. You need to explain how these particular metaphors and chiasma are working to persuade Brutus’s audience crowd on this occasion You’ll need to quote several phrases, label the tropes contained in each phrase that you quote, and explain how each phrase relies on a specific trope in order to be more persuasive.

(Assignment Length: approximately 1,000 words)

-intro paragraph is attached at the bottom. rest of essay should be based off this.- I inserted my instructors notes on what he said about the intro paragraph, if you could fix what he says and focus on the points he said in his notes that would be great (they are highlighted in yellow what needs to be fixed)

-instructions and readings are attached below
